A £250,000 maintenance project has been carried out on the world’s largest working water wheel, located in Laxey. Keim Algicid solution was applied to eliminate all algae and fungal spores. Keim Silan Primer was applied to the mortar joints and friable stone and Keim Soldalit mineral paint was applied in the chosen colour.
Lightfast Ltd. & Keim Mineral Paints are pleased to have been involved with this project at the design stage in developing the pre-treatment and painting specification for the masonry surfaces of this iconic monument.
Following cleaning and repairs to the mortar jointing; Keim Algicid solution was applied to eliminate all algae and fungal spores. Keim Silan Primer was then applied to halt salt migration through the mortar joints and friable stone; following the preparatory works, two full coats Keim Soldalit mineral paint was applied in the chosen colour.
