The Nunnery, Douglas – Lodge House

Where new architecture meets historic; this “box” is a lightweight timber frame construction with mineral render panels externally coated with KEIM Universal Thincoat Lime Render and 2 coats KEIM Soldalit-ME Photocatalytic mineral paint over.

In formulation of the specification, the obvious choice was for the application of KEIM Soldalit-ME mineral paint system to the previously unpainted smooth render surfaces. KEIM Soldalit-ME is a photo-catalytic mineral paint which actively eliminates fungal and algae spores through the reaction of light with the catalyst contained in the mineral paint.

The colour was chosen to blend in with the historic natural stone; a long life solution, this won’t require any further decorative treatments for decades to come.
